There’s been many, many times that I’ve gone fishing and came home with five fish, but those are the days that you have to put in.”įolse said finding a spot holding fish is a huge first step to success. “A lot of people don’t want to put in the time, but scouting is key. “It’s all about putting in the time on the water,” he said. “So I’m going to go out there on days that I wouldn’t normally go because it’s high pressure, clear blue sky - not a good day to go - but I’ll go anyway to do a little bit of scouting.” ScoutingĮven though the bait an angler uses is important, Folse drove home his point about spending time on the water scouting for fish. “If I’m scouting on a bad day and I catch one or two in a spot, I’m going to remember that spot, because if I caught one or two on a bad day, then that means there are thousands of fish there,” Folse said.
